Nice shots there Phil, the Wedgetail is a standout. I went out for my 4th visit today, waited 2 hours for the Growlers to return & they switched runways about 5 mins before they landed, I was set up to get some recovery shots but not to worry. I will be back out there Thursday for one last attempt.

Yes Phil taken from the guard house again, don't get much of a chance for decent shots because of the buildings, but have a few good ones. Is nice & loud there when they takeoff. Had a chat to the SP today, they came out to see me.

Hi all

Well i decided to have another crack at amberley again this afternoon, and it wasnt as good as last Monday (Mr Rafferty, and richard) went around to the guard gate on the left and there were f18;s teasing in there hasses and thought ok bring it on,i then got gripped by 2 very attrative SP's who asked me the usual told me not to point camera at base while the C!7 was doing touch and goes in front of me.

Present in front of me were to Chinooks and a rescue S76 (Any id)

So i took myself back on to middle road and got some nice shots of the C17 in the end no F18's i heard on the radio Evening sortie but dont know whether they were reffering to the F18's.Couldnt see the Omega B707 was praying they were out and would turn up if they were already out but nothing showed by 4.15pm only the C17 bashing the circuit.
I dont know if anyone has there routine for tomorrow could be tempted, if not will try next week

I am thinking of popping down to BNE next week and maybe venture out to Amberley, i'm off Monday and Tuesday, is there a better day or is it mainly luck?

Also Where would i need to go to see them and get some decent shots like Phil's? Only been once for the airshow in 2008 or 2009 and don't remember the layout. Obviously being different with the airshow being on.

Thanks
James

City and Gold Coast flypast next Thursday 22nd.

"AUSTRALIA'S newest and largest military aircraft will do a fly-by of Brisbane and the Gold Coast next week at below skyscraper level.

The huge C-17A Globemaster will take off from Amberley Air Force base west of Brisbane around 8.15am (AEST) on Thursday.

Four minutes later it will thunder over Brisbane's South Bank at just 300 metres above the ground.

At 8.30am it will fly over the beaches of the Gold Coast at below the height of the city's loftiest building, the Q1, which stands 322 metres tall."

Good stuff Mick.

I read that due to safety requirements they will be about 1.5 kms apart from each other.

Thanks for posting this Matt.

I notice the flyover time has been pushed back an hour from 8.15am to 9.15am. Should be good!
