What a joke. They got not as far as Burleigh and from Point Danger were only dots in the distance. RWY32 was in use at OOL but that should have made little difference. Even one of the OOL Safety Officers was at Point Danger along with several other people hoping to see them.

The flight path including maps were published on the air force web site linked here. Best spot in town was the sea way wall IMO.

Good view from the north looking south onto the planes' sunny side was from the memorial park next to the Mudgeeraba police. High ground with clear sight across the motorway ]and planes still low.

The ABC breakfast bloke claimed they were one of the biggest planes in the world. He later interviewed one of the senior crew who mentioned they were turning right near Q1 so I started planning west not south. Terry that is the clue I had to not go to Pt Danger. I later saw the map link so ok.

Raytheon 3000 N3000B inbound to Amberley from CNS. Judging by the rego and c/n PH1 it is the prototype/demonstrator for Avalon and may have been here before . I photographed it at the Paris Air Show in 2011.

The Airlift International DC-8-63F 9G-RAC departed early this morning as ALE901 bound for another aussie AFB. Probably trying to dodge the civil airports where the JT3D engined variants are banned from. :(
