Apologies to Carsten as he has a KK thread going, but do you think they deserve the Hype, I dont.
I have to pick up a box for my wife every time I am interstate though!

I think they are a case of 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder'.

They are certainly doing something right with their marketing. The Brisbane store is always crowded, whilst other nearby doghnut outlets are empty.

Save money and just mix lard and as much sugar as you can find. Eat that concoction.

KK donuts are disgusting. Too sweet, and they have 'all taste the same' syndrome. Drinking Fanta with them, the donuts are sweeter than the Fanta. They must be so bad for you.

Yuck

I must agree with you there Frank. I am sure that, when I first tried them, I thought they were quite nice. But, ever since, they have tasted like crap.

You're not wrong Frank... e.g. Choc-coated, creme filled

21g of fat (25% of it saturated)! 39g of sugar --> that's equivalent to four and a half tea spoons of raw sugar. It is also quite high in sodium (salt). The sad part is you get all that from one doughnut.

Not the best food you could have in your diet - however, everything in moderation.

Dietary Guidelines for Australian Adults wrote:Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods
• Eat plenty of vegetables, legumes and fruits
• Eat plenty of cereals (including breads, rice, pasta and noodles), preferably
wholegrain
• Include lean meat, fish, poultry and/or alternatives
• Include milks, yoghurts, cheeses and/or alternatives. Reduced-fat varieties
should be chosen, where possible
• Drink plenty of water.
and take care to
Limit saturated fat and moderate total fat intake
Choose foods low in salt
• Limit your alcohol intake if you choose to drink
Consume only moderate amounts of sugars and foods containing added
sugars.

Prevent weight gain: be physically active and eat according to your
energy needs
Care for your food: prepare and store it safely
Encourage and support breastfeeding (Maybe this one doesn't apply so much here...)

Everything in moderation Tim ;)

as for KK... Where's the spew emoticon? They have to be the single worst sugar hit available... I think the 4 odd teaspoons of raw sugar would taste better...

*cringes*

agree with that...rot your teeth out too, funny thing is that they've taken off down here but in the US business is slow for them. I ended up feeding most of my box to the birds on the mound...

best doughnuts I've ever had are a little place on E Imperial and Pepper just near Imperial hill at LAX...not saturated with sugar, not overpriced and a damn site more flavoursome than the rubbish KK pumps out.

There is also one in Melbourne Central, but the queue snakes right around to the connex( ) office sometimes, probaly one of the busiest ones round.

There is a new one coming to Westfield Geelong also soon, so expect lines miles long :P
