Confirmed via Airliner Route (http://airlineroute.net/2015/08/11/ek-sinmel-mar16/)

Emirates from 01MAR16 is expanding capacity on Dubai – Singapore – Melbourne route, as it plans to operate the service with 3-class Airbus A380, replacing Boeing 777-300ER. This also means both Singapore and Melbourne will receive overall 2nd daily A380 service.

According to the MEL website, looks like the Polar service will arrive at the usual time on Sunday, but now leaves at 1:50am on Tuesday, rather than Monday.

Just seen a post on another forum saying that China Airlines have loaded flights beyond March, meaning the service is not seasonal. Have to wait and see it confirmed.

Has anyone heard the alleged rumour of VAI returning for the LAX run around April next year?

JetGo announced Dubbo-Melbourne on their Facebook page. The post does not explicitly state whether the services will operate out of ESS or MEL, although given the wording of Melbourne rather than Essendon, it seems reasonable to assume MEL. Have to wait and see. The flights will operate 3 times per week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, commencing at the end of October. No timings given.

I was just looking for flights on Kayak in November and noticed it says A340-600 on EY462.
I haven't heard anything about this, Is it an error or is the A340 coming back?

I checked through the EY website, for most of November. The dates are the arrival date in MEL.

EY460 Wed Nov 25
EY462 Fri Nov 27
EY460 Sun Nov 29
EY462 Tue Dec 1

Should be a good month for A340 fans in Melbourne, with these and the Lufthansa 340.

According to the Melbourne Airport website, the 1x weekly Polar Air flight will be retimed, from September 28. The arrival will remain the same, however the outbound PO973 will depart at 17:05 Monday, to Shenzhen instead of Hong Kong. After September 28 the departure will move to 18:05 Monday.

And the LH A340 for the charter service has been changed to a 757. Not sure of the operator currently. Timings are the same as listed previously.
