Just saw a post on the airshow Facebook that the F35 will fly on both Saturday and Sunday now. No more info other than that.

Never seen this before.

We have many queries as to why various Air Forces are not present at the event.

Invites to foreign Air Forces are sent by Chief of Air Force to respective heads of foreign Air Forces to attend the symposium and to consider supporting the event with aircraft for static and flying displays. Factors such as operational requirements and budgets, political considerations and distance are some of the reasons that invitees may, or may not, decided to attend.

Aside from the civil side of the event, the Australian International Airshow is the preeminent event for showcasing the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and is run in conjunction with the Chief of Air Force Symposium....We are very grateful for the support we receive from the RAAF and any Foreign Air Force attending the 2017 event. Their participation takes a large operational, financial and logistical commitment – not just for the military asset to attend, but also for the associated personnel it takes to manage its attendance.

Sooo its all the RAAFs fault, its not an ASDU event, the RAAF decides who comes and who doesnt?
Thats a first.
So ASDU has handed contol over to RAAF? does that mean ASDU is no longer a Govt owned corporation?
Makes no sense.

Had a great couple of days. I went Friday night with a mate and then Sunday with my sons. Clearly the highlight was the Raptor, but also really enjoyed the Paul Bennett team, Tin Stix n Dynamite, and the ADF Showcase. A real shame to miss out on the F35 flying. But then it almost certainly will be back next time...

Hope for next time: More foreign military flying (rather than just being on static).

Q: Anybody know why the Spartan did not participate in the ADF Showcase? As it was listed on the schedule....

Anyone know what time the Bone ended up departing today?

I turned up in the morning hoping to see it leave, but sadly it had issues which delayed it & unfortunately I couldn't wait around.

Awesome airshow. I attended all three days. I thought Saturday was the best day as everything flew and the weather was beautiful with minimal wind. The highlights for me were the displays of the F-35 on Saturday, the F-22, the Super Hornet, the F-16, the dual Hercules flare drop on Friday night, and the one hour RAAF showcase.

I was very impressed with the F-35 display even though it wasn't a full display. It appears to be a very capable aircraft and makes lots of noise. It was disappointing it didn't fly on Sunday, however fully understand the reasons why.

It was great to see the Connie back flying and I would have liked to have seen the Convair, but it wasn't even at the airshow, so not sure what happened there.

It would have been good to see the Spartan fly, and not sure why it didn't, however maybe another time.

Not sure why the 4 ship hornet display was cancelled on Sunday as I didn't hear an announcement about it, but still a great day, and at least I saw them fly on Saturday.

Looking forward to Avalon 2019.
