Exercise Pitch Black 2012

Postby Martin E » Tue May 15, 2012 9:41 pm

Hey all,

Even though I'm no longer Darwin based, lets get another exercise thread going!

What's everyone heard (rumour, fact, other) in regards to this exercise?

I'm sure there's plenty flying around...

I believe the exercise will run 30th July to 16th August. As usual positioning before/after those dates.

United 737-900 inbound from Guam, by the time this gets read it will be on the ground. Could be the beginnings of the arrivals for the ex.

"United 1895" now scheduled out to Guam at around 2055 CST.

Full list of participating aircraft here. The VMFA-232 Hornets are definitely now at the Top End.

Im thinking of flying up, where is good place to stay near airport? any ideas?

They say

We will have 21 aircraft on static display and ground displays from Darwin based units. No flying will be conducted at the Open Day but a single aircraft display will be held off the coast on the late afternoon of Thursday, 9 August at the Mindil Beach markets. More information regarding this display will be released closer to the event.

So I am wondering if one of the other days would be better?
Monday, August 6 to Friday, August 10
11.30am-12.30pm – Aircraft Launch
2.30pm-3.30pm – Aircraft Recovery
7.30pm-8.30pm – Aircraft Launch
9pm-11pm – Aircraft Recovery

Monday, August 13 to Thursday, August 16
11.30am-12.30pm – Aircraft Launch
2.30pm-3.30pm – Aircraft Recovery
7.30pm-8.30pm – Aircraft Launch
9pm-11pm – Aircraft Recovery

Thoughts anyone?

Neat

One wonders why we can't get any of this stuff to Avalon?
