Strewth! PIGS up and down South Coast (T&G's at Albatross) and North Coast NSW, N & SE QLD - whats going on - sounds like intensive crew training (farewell/joy rides for sqn members :D ).

Still got another 16 months until they are retired. Just business as usual I would say.

About what time was that Adam?

I managed to get out to Bondi for lunch today between 11.30 - 1.15pm and only saw the white A109 heading to Watson and then the black A109 on track to Williamtown.

About 12:15pm to be exact, i was just driving back to work from the shop.

They have been coming from Canberra way so i'm assuming they are playing low level inland somewhere between here and there (Canberra).

Cheers Adam,

Looks like they are flying inland from the Gong to Willy as I would have heard or seen it.

If you look at the NOTAM, they are a few miles off the coast or right on the coast all the way to Willytown. They would have been a few miles out to sea at Bondi.

Can anyone tell me what the numbers mean after the town names please, is it timing's or co-ordiantes?

Cheers Mick,

Would have spotted it today if it was a couple of miles off Bondi, weather was good CAVOK AND I brought my 400mm AND I was paying attention - the pig also leaves a bit of smoke trail which is a dead give away. If they did go coastal must have flown outside the time I was there or they flew a few more than a couple of miles off the coast! Visibility by the way was to the horizon! Besides if your an old salty you should know they dont always strictly adhere to the NOTAM!

The Medusas were nice to see non-the-less and lunch wasnt too bad so I can't complain.

Adam, Mick might fill you in on that as I am not a pilot but believe its the co-ords. The timing you can see at the very bottom of the Notam
"FROM 08 052345 TO 08 060315" For example 08 is for August; 05 is for 5th day and 2345 is the time in UTC.

Adam the Notams are as such
Cairns 055090 means the waypoint is 55 naughtical miles on the Cairns 090 Raidial. That is 55 miles to the east.

The first 3 numbers are the distance and the second 3 the bearing from that point. Get some aviation maps ( vtc, vncs ect) and it is very easy to plot their course..
