Last live weapons demo at Pucka tomorrow for the PIG for Ex Chong Ju - believe they should be flying from Amberley with the "load outs" but they may also use Eding or another field.

A final photo-shoot below Mt Mitchell would be handy, Richard !

Hope they light the Roman Candle at the Bundamba Carols - report in local press today.

YOU normally couldn’t beat a seven-minute fireworks spectacular as a finale to Mayor Paul Pisasale’s Christmas Carols by Candlelight event.

But this year organisers have done just that, with F-111s from RAAF Base Amberley scheduled to do a high-speed fly-over to close the family event.

The timing works out perfectly, with the F-111s set to be decommissioned from service only weeks after the November 27 carols in Ipswich’s 150th year.

Mayor Pisasale said that with the jets bowing out after nearly four decades of association with Ipswich, the fly-over was a fitting finale to this year’s Carols by Candlelight, which is sponsored by The Queensland Times.

“I think it will be a great way for Ipswich residents to salute the F-111s and their pilots and crews for their service,” Cr Pisasale said.

“The city has had a long association with the F-111 and I think this will be an excellent way to farewell them.”

Hosted by the Ipswich Turf Club at Bundamba, gates will open at 5pm with kids’ rides, fairly floss and face painting.

From 6pm a concert will start on the main stage with the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Show and appearances by Toasted TV and Totally Wild personalities.

At 7pm the family entertainment starts, with highlights including performances by the Ipswich City Orchestra and well-known singers Deni Hines and Anthony Callea.

The fireworks show is due to begin at 8.45pm, with the F-111 fly-over straight afterwards.

Strewth Mick, this Pisasale chap sure has the best gigs!

I decided to follow my own advice for a change off Sydney (apologies for quality & distance :( ) but was treated to a marvelous display - Pig came strait at me from far out to sea  :D , my canon camera sensors must have triggered his EW sensors  as he made a pass at me then turned and went belly up for a camera snap after all he is a recce model (A8-134 off the front gear doors for the historical record) then he nearly did a full circle leveled out and then he spotted a fat juicy tanker or bulk carrier, so he went for a dummy run in on it! Bloody marvelous - if only I had a 600mm!

Thought I was in the "PACIFIC LOW FLY ZONE" for a second here:

Ripper Richard.

Shame the Pong Su sister ship didn't steam into view - would have made the farewell flights a real blast !
