Rockhampton Movements

Postby Martin E » Fri Oct 15, 2010 9:35 am

Hey Rocky folks!

Departing Darwin today are 6 x Singer F-16's heading your way. In support we have 1 KC-135 and a C-130H. Not sure if they'll be leaving for yours as well, but in case they do, you now know.

The herc is serial 733, and is an awesome shiny looking machine.

Hope Mods don't mind but I'll get this thread going with some interesting Rocky movements not associated with Mil Exercises!!

Today (Saturday 23/10) 3x Australian Army Blackhawks passed thru... A25-204, 201, and 105. All arrived separately, but 204 and 201 left in formation as "Knights Black" destination Archerfield but I think they ended up at Caloundra(???). 105 left for Bundaberg.

Also earlier this week a RNZAF King Air passed thru Rocky late one night enroute to Alice Springs.

And Alliance Fokker 100 VH-FKA has been thru operating on behalf of QantasLink again - problems with the Q400s??

Cheers

Looks like things are wrapping up for ex Wallaby. Singaporian gear has been going down to Gladstone from Shellwater bay for the last few nights and the helicopters at the airport are being pulled apart for transport.

Now the question is.... when will the Antinov be back?

Air New Zealand 747's have been coming into Rocky all week at 7.30pm.
I went out last night when it arrived at 8.15 and took a few night shots.
I thinks it's coming in again tonight and tomorrow night so I've been told.

OK I now have it all together; the Antonov is coming into Rocky at 8pm this Monday night.

At Rocky airport now waiting for my plane and it is arriving an hour late ... I wouldn't mind if there was some action going on outside.

The Antonov arrived sometime between 1700 EST 29th and 0500 EST 30th. I had a quick look on the way to work last night and done my normal check this morning on the way home and there it was. Parked. I wonder what time it leaves, i might have to wake up a little earlier and see if I am lucky to catch it take off.

In regards to the 747s, jet etc, I deff know when they are taking off as I live very close to the airport and it only takes me 1 min to get to the viewing area.

Thanks Ray - info from the ground at ROK suggested the Antonov 124 - rego RA-82074 - arrived at 8.53pm 29/11 as "VDA151".

I think that there will be two Antonov flights as there are no less than 9 RSAF helicopters awaiting uplift - 4 Apache and 5 Super Puma. Local spotters info suggests a load to replacement Super Pumas may be inbound on at least one of the Antonovs.

B747s finished Friday night with ZK-NBW operating the last flight to Sinapore.

Cheers

Sucks having two threads about the same thing... anyway...

The Antonov 124 - rego RA-82074 - is planned to leave tomorrow 1/12 at 3am. All 4 RSAF Apaches were loaded today.

There is another Antonov 124 arrival (probably) the same machine on Friday 3/12 in the evening at 8pm, currently scheduled to depart Sunday 5/12 in the morning at 3am. It will carry 5 super pumas home to Singapore.

Cheers
Damian
