From the news footage it would appear it was a certain Euro-copter product... can't make out the rego...?

it should not impact on availability ... :!: (pun intended)

The "nut" involved had ripped off one of this board members "jetphotos" and misidentified the type and country it belonged to ... but enough said as to his IQ

Gday Richard et al,

As mentioned in my post, Eurocopter EC665 ARH Tiger helicopter A38-006 looks to have been the one that was damaged.. Haven't managed to get any photos yet..

Interestingly, some media are reporting that the Army has relocated all 20 or so helicopters that were parked at Rockhampton Airport to Shoalwater Bay. ADF have denied this saying that arrangements had been made in the months previous about these helicopters being involved in operations all at once and all now being parked in the Training Area.

Cheers

Rockhampton - Sun 24/7 - Gulfstream IV N810LP from TAG Aviation popped in twice.

Rockhampton - Mon 25/7 - RAAF C-130H A97-007 arrived and departed.

There was also nasty incident with an ADF member seriously burned in a port-a-loo explosion.

Not much else happening at Rocky!

Evening,

Good to meet you last week Damian, whilst TS11 at Rocky lacked the US assets of recent years the Australian Army certainly made up for their absence.

Here are a few photos:

05-5148 preparing to depart of Rwy 33 as "Slew 99" to Guam on Sunday 17/7.

Image

69-5826 arriving as "Trojan 55" on Monday 18/7.

Image

A38-020 departing as part of formation "Grumpy 11" on Tuesday 19/7.

Image

164446 arrives from the USS Blue Ridge as "Blackbeard 02" on Tuesday 19/7.

Image

163240 arrives as "Warlord 710" on Wednesday 20/7.

Image

A38-012 and A38-020 arrive as formation "Chaos 31" on Wednesday 20/7.

All in all the exercise provided a glimpse at some Aussie equipment that doesn't come out and play, en masse, too often. It was a week well spent!

Evening all,

The exodus of personnel and equipment is well underway from Rockhampton after a very successful Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011.

Qantas B767-300 VH-OGE was in twice Thursday 28/7 - it flew SYD-ROK-DRW-ROK-ADL

On Friday 29/7 Rockhampton had another Qantas charter - this time A330-300 VH-QPA flew ???-ROK-MEL. Later Air Nauru B737-300 VH-INU also popped into Rockhampton to take troops home.

A World Airways MD-11 is expected this week to take to US personnel home.

On the military side, Sea Kings N16-125 ("Shark 10") and N16-239 ("Shark 21") departed to South - and home.

There are also five Kiowas still at Rocky, and two Blackhawks.

RAAF C-17s are expected this week to transport the Eurocopter EC665 Tiger helicopters out.

Some photos from the last couple of days are on the CQ Plane Spotting Blog - http://cqplanespotting.blogspot.com/

Cheers
Damian

Oh and PS - the Air Force officer who was badly injured in the portaloo explosion earlier in the week is still seriously ill in a Brisbane hospital. Investigations are continuing, but it is believed he may have been involved in a fuel spill earlier in the day, and then lit a cigarette in the portaloo. Speculation only.

Hope he make a speedy and full recovery.

More troop charters...

Fri t 29/7 in the evening Our Airline (Air Nauru) flew South as RON903

Sat 30/7 Alliance F-100 flew ROK-DRW as UTY621.
Also on Saturday, Blackhawk A25-215 which suffered an engine failure earlier in the week, spent most of the afternoon running its new engine.

If anyone is keen on a daytrip to Rocky Monday, the World Airways MD-11 arrives 3am Monday and departs 4am Tuesday to take US contingent of personnel home.

Then that will be it! (Until the Singaporeans come later in the year!!)

Cheers

Sunday 31/7 at Rockhampton...

Local spotters report that ALL the Army Tiger, Blackhawk, and Kiowa choppers have returned today from Shoalwater Bay, with the Tigers having their rotar blades removed for uplift back to Darwin this week by RAAF C-17s.

RAAF C-17 A41-206 "Stallion 30" arrived about lunch time but broke down - apparently a replacement (with spare parts) will be flown in tomorrow.

World Airways in 3am tomorrow morning apparently..

It all happens when I leave town!

Monday 1/8 at Rockhampton...

World Airways MD-11 N272WA arrived before dawn and will depart early tomorrow. Aircraft carries their new red, blue and white colours - very nice!

Also RAAF C-17 A41-209 flew in from Amberley as "Stallion 73". It then flew to Darwin with 2 EC665 Tiger choppers as "Stallion 30".

One of the Tigers was A38-006 which is still damaged - there is a patch on the forward port fuselage where the idiot punched a hole in it with his axe.. Ben O in Rocky got some great shots over the last couple of days, and these are on the CQ Plane Spotting Blog - http://cqplanespotting.blogspot.com/

Been a great time in Rocky - pity there weren't more USA stuff... until the Singaporeans in a couple of months!

Many thanks Damien and Craig, for your outstanding coverage from the Capricorn Coast!

Unfortunately TS11 was a non event for me due to personal circumstances

Starting to think Ottowa did not carry an S61 as nothing has been published or reported, it certainly did not have one aboard in Sydney, unless it moonlighted at NAS...

Cheers
