Hello everyone.

About a month and a half ago, I upgraded to a Canon 450D with an 18-55mm lens and a 55-250mm lens with an image stabilizer. I absolutely love my new gear. It works like wonders, the quality is great and it focuses very quickly. As much as I love my old Pentax *istD, I won't be using it again unless I have to. It did a fantastic job for me throughout the last 4 years. My new digital photography era has begun! :D

Hey

After months of being on these forums I decided to get myself a DSLR.

As a beginner I was looking for something easy to use and not so pricey.

I purchased an Olympus E-420 DSLR with a twin lens kit which came with a 14-42mm standard wide zoom and a 42-150mm Telephoto zoom lens. A bag and a 2GB card all for $900 from JB-hiFi. the 42-150mm telephoto lens has a practical zoom of 80-300mm according to Olympus.

Does that leave Mr Eadie, Mr Fox and Mr Wilson as the only Pentaxians left on the board? I too defected to Canon a while ago...

Hi All,
As an avid 777 and F111 pig lover nothing beats the Nikon range.

D300 and D40 Bodies
18-200mm VR lens for most of the stationary stuff
70-300mm VR lens for most of the action stuff
170-500mm Sigma lens when things are far away

And for the really far away shots and bright days I add a sigma 1.4 and 2x converter.

You still need to know how to take a photograph, no matter what type of gear you have, or how expensive it is...

Don't know about the others, but have just upgraded to the Pentax K-7 - good bit of kit so far.

Hi all,

Just bought my first Compact camera. A Canon Ixus 100 IS :-)
Just a small camera to take on my trip to Japan next year, travelling light.

Leaving the 40D and lenses at home maybe.

Re: Purchased a 5D Mk II

I need to experiment more but as at this stage the price is not worth the difference over a 7D.
On screen is similar to my 10D and 40D but a print is far superior.
Is there anybody on forum that may have some tweaks in configuration.
Have a look at my Web Site

I just upgraded from the 300D to the 5D mkII, It is AMAZING! Got it for $3050 including delivery, the full frame is the best for wide angle lenses and the video is great. When zooming in to the full sized image, it is amazing how much detail can be seen! The iso performance is considerably better than the 50D, not sure about the 7D though. I took some night photos from a plane at 6400 iso and it was like shooting 400 iso on my old 300D, no where near as much noise as i would have thought. Only disadvantage is the fact that telephoto lenses are not cropped by a 1.6x sensor to make the focal length appear longer and also some vignetting at 400mm from my 100-400. This is the camera for large prints, lots of detail with great colours and for wide angle photos.
