Melbourne schedule changed/abnormalities

Postby James L » Wed Aug 20, 2014 4:25 pm

Hi all,

Thought I would create this for any changes in airline schedules or alterations to their routes. I found this one today whilst looking at slot allocations;

On the 15th of September, Thai will operate a continuation service BKK-MEL-AKL as TG465/8465

Regards,
Airlines Flown
Air France, Air Nauru, Air New Zealand, Britannia, British Airways, Easy Jet, Flybe, Helvetic, Qantas, QantasLink, QantasLink(Cobham), Royal Brunei, Singapore Airways, Swiss International Airlines, Thai Airways, Tigerair(AU), Virgin America, Virgin Australia

Hearing on another forum that from January 21 Qantas will be flying the 744 3x weekly MEL-LAX as QF95/96. From what I understand this will be a different service from that summer period 747 that was announced from Dec - Jan a while back. If I find out more I'll post it. Anyway, always great to see more variety at MEL, especially a 747!

Edit: Accurate summary attached

James, does this translate to two flights per day ? Sorry, might seem like a daft question, but the flight numbers don't match up with what was posted earlier.

Yes mate, I'm guessing the morning flight is to compete with both VA and GA, and the arvo flight is to compete with JQ. All up there will be a potential of up to 4 Air Asia X (whether it be the Malaysian or Indonesian version) movements a day.

Still nothing on the Air Asia website for these flights, with only 4 weeks leed in time to the flight, I don't know how they will fill an a330, I also see JQ have more specials to DPS, a preemptive strike maybe to get some bums on seats and money in the bank before a price war. I hope so!!! :D

Looking on the Melbourne Airport PDF, NZ will run a few abnormal 76W flights.

Nov 2
NZ1961 PERTH 22:30 76W

Nov 3
NZ6012 AUCKLAND 12:00 76W

Nov 8
NZ6013 AUCKLAND 16:00 76W

Nov 9
NZ1962 SYDNEY 16:00 76W

Wonder what these could be for?
